So it’s our first time in Lanzarote, staying a tiny wee hotel called La Casona de Yaiza. It’s beautiful and very warm.
We’ve so far learned three things about Lanzarote. 1: All the volcanic rock makes it feel a bit like the moon. 2: Always order the sea bass. 3: The local wine is a very acquired taste .
Does anyone have any good local knowledge – tips, things to see, good places to eat? We’d love to hear them.
Katie’s in her first holiday outfit – shirt from Sretsis (a present from the lovely Chotilda at Supersweet), Topshop dress and Versace sunnies. I’m going to get back to my attempts to understand this wine. Chat tomorrow.

STUNNING SUNNING FUNNING.
jealous Bird x
Beautiful as always! Katie looks almost Ethereal! The only interesting fact I know about Lanzarote, is that the amazing portuguese writer/novelist/Nobel Prize José Saramago lives there!
Go out on a boat…the flying fish are amazing ; )
Ooh! Love the pastels!
Aw, Katie looks so cute and happy! Love the flowy dress and shirt (and she shoes look great too)
Enjoy the vacation.
Hey! Glad you’re happy in Lanzarote – judging by the big smile on Katies face, the water is either beautifully warm, shockingly cold or Joe has just said something funny!
Try going to Cesar Manriques house – he was an artist who influenced the whole look of Lanzarote (white houses, green/blue window frames, no houses above two stories high). He built his house inside a number of volcanic lava bubbles – has to be seen to be believed! Plus, it would make the most fantastic backdrop for a WKW pic as he loved his colour! Papagayo beach is fab, Puerto Calero is a lovely little marina to visit (plus amazing thalassotherapy spa in the big hotel at the top of the hill) and Rubicon Marina in Playa Blanca is very nice for a wander and a nice meal. Phew! Have fun chaps x
omg!! so you did take up my suggestion of Lanzarote – and it is so not Chavvy anymore is it?? (well unless you go to Puetro Del Carmen, which I would strongly advise against). Right where to start on the best places to go – I would go to ANY of the Cesar Manrique places – Mirador Del Aqua is AMAZING – see my pics on FB Joe. You could go to Playa Blanca and chill on the besches there, eat alongside the harbour and then catch a ferry to Ferverventura (oops spelling!) If you have hired a car you much go to the very top of the island and find the amazing beach called Orzola. Not much near Club La Santa but you could have a look perhaps? Hire bikes and take an early morning bike ride perhaps – just not at night cos they don’t have street lights on most of the roads. I hope you both have a really great time – and will look forward to seeing your Lanzarote inspired outfits X
ooops again that should have been Jameos del Agua – the water gardens
Katie has such a lovely happy smile! I am sure you are having a FAB time!
Oh to have my tootsies in the water this early in the year! The best I can hope for is Brighton beach – hmmmmmmm too cold I feel! Enjoy your holiday both. We’re totally scrimping on holiday days for 2010 for a trip to Australia for Christmas and New Year. Long, long, LONG time to wait. Still, Spring is almost here!
Katie, so wish pastels suited me but they are a no no since my colours have been done. SS10 not great season for me! Guess I’ll have to do my own thing
x
eee Katie and Joe, we went to Lanzarote on 5th March 2005 for a week. How strange. ALSO, we got really bad sun stroke (or extremely bad food poisoning? Who knows!) But we also blamed the ‘Jungle’ local beer. Be very wary you two!
Have a lovely time!
JP xx
PS -Katie you look very summery again! HUZZAH! xxx
Finally, something that doesn’t contrast with oru weather down here….looking pretty as always
Love it! cheered me right up!
Have fun on your hols!!
OHHH JEALOUS! The sun is trying to confuse me…no coat today = massive FAIL. Katie looks amezin’ as always x
You must must must go to Jameos del Agua. It’s stunning.
And I agree with Musebabe, hire bikes!
We went dancing one night at La Cueva De Lagamor, I’m not sure if it was a special night or anything but it was amazing! There website I feel sets the tone perfectly –

Have a super time, Katie you look lovely.
Places to go;
Lanzarote Art Galleries: César Manrique Foundation (Fundación César Manrique) – Tahiche, Lanzarote
Jardin De Cactus – Guatiza, Lanzarote. Learn how they used to breed cochineal beetles on cacti for red food colouring etc etc
Charco Del Palo – nudist village at the north of Lanzarote. Watch naked people sunbathing/swimming on sharp rocks, whilst avoiding jellyfish and poisonous sea urchins. So wrong, its right.
Oh, I am so jelous! Have a great time in Lanzarote!
I love this outfit, it is so light and fresh
Famara beach is amazing, def. go there.
