Our driver, XL, (it can mean "excellent" or "extra long" apparently) is a man of discerning tastes, with a predilection for the gastronomic. We were therefore surprised when he suggested that we ask our barman to make us some "steel bottoms" - a drink which, at first hearing, sounds like pretty much the worst cocktail ever conceived. The ingredients of a steel bottom? Wray & Nephew overproof rum mixed in equal measures with Red Stripe lager. The verdict: utterly vile. Stomach-turningly hideous. Gag juice.
