08.31.11Taken Before Tape Measure ThursdayNo - not an allusion to a close examination of my masculine failings. But we are off to visit our new house tomorrow to measure up for a bed and a fridge and a washing machine and... well basically absolutely everything - we own virtually nothing other than shoes. Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds shoes. K wears a cardigan from 123 Bethnal Green Road, dress from Tesco and a Stolen Thunder scarf thing (check them out - they've got a sale on).

After an afternoon of bubbles with the neighbours we've retired to our place: I'm typing my Man Work while wifey shells borlotti beans over a weighty Nigel Slater tome. Yes, that is a globe artichoke you can see. Turns out, vegetable posing is the new owling (which was the new planking, before it got nuff old). Jokes. Veggie K wears Oasis jeans, Tesco dress and a Darling smock thing. I'd better be getting chips and a slice of pie with my salad.

06.16.11Taken In The Zetter TownhouseSoz for the late post yo - Katie's been out on the posh smash with her girlfriends at the rather chichi Zetter Townhouse. Her description of it: "It's like drinking in your grandmother's living room, if your grandmother had grown up in the circus". I've been lying on the sofa with my hair in a ponytail, spilling sweet and sour chicken down my vest. She wears a Tesco dress, River Island tights, vintage jacket and Lola Ramona shoes. Lovely.

It's been lots of fun - we walked through a blizzard to have some amazing dim sum at Shanghai Blues and then went off to finish our Christmas shopping in a deserted central London. Now for a bottle of wine and some cheese in front of ITV's Take Me Out, the natural successor to Blind Date and possibly the greatest programming format devised since Touch The Truck. 12.12.10Taken Before All The CheeseSuch a festive day - first we had a wander around the Christmas markets of East London and then we bought up half of the northern hemisphere's cheese reserves. I'm going to open a bottle of wine and cook a gammon while Katie decorates the flat and readies herself for X-Factor (I'm very upset about Cher leaving). In a futile attempt to burn off a massive lunch (enormous steak tartare, frites, bottle of Brouilly, macaroons) Katie was able to finally persuade me to rent bikes. For as long as I've known her, Katie's always talked about buying a bike. Guess what? It turns out she isn't able to ride a bike. She's pretty good with the bell though. At least she looks very elegant on the saddle. Although elegant probably isn't the word the dozens of Parisians who threw themselves into the gutter to avoid her mal-coordinated peddling would have used. Turns out, if we're ever going to get onto the property ladder, Katie's going to have to stop blowing all of our pennies on tights and I'm going to have to switch to a less premium gin.
