Some awful person's burglar alarm went off for several hours in the night. So we haven't slept much. And my ears are sore from wedging makeshift cotton wool ear plugs into them. Surely 5 minutes alarm time is enough to scare of any would-be thief? After several hours you can't help but hope the burglars robbed them thoroughly and tossed a match into a pile of oily rags on the way out.
